RJA #2

I chose the topic of Wars in America and how they directly affected not only the people but economy and general landscape of the United States at the particular time. This a highly debated event anytime war is even mentioned. I know a lot about wars but not about the direct affects of the people and government at home. This is not a debate on whether wars are good or not but on how the economy, jobs and general outlook shift when we are entered in a dipute with another nation. I will be looking at wars starting with World War II. In my emergence of modern U.S. history class we barely scratched the surface about World War I and its reprecussions on the home front and I was extremely interested and wanted to learn more but we only spent 1 class period covering it.

I will be resarching the strength of nationality, the economy and how the war was not only doing to our soldiers but our citizens back home. I will also be looking into other countries as well but more for comparisons to see how similar the countries citizens were handling the war as in America.

War is looked at as only a bad thing but I want to look into something more than the death and carnage and look into the views of people who aren't directly fighting in the war. I have my predictions but as a whole I have no idea how large of a role war plays on the everyday life of a person not actually directly invested in the war.

  1. If you focus on history and/or economics, this should work. Just don't start arguing for or against a current conflict; that would be political rather than academic.
